The Liminal Compass charts the creative response of our team of artists, writers, musicians and scientists to Ecuador’s legendary Tayos Caves
Designed as a journey of retreat and reflection following its four directions:
FOREST - THRESHOLD - CAVE - EMERGENCE
The Liminal Compass is a way-finder for discovery, transformation and re-imagination explored through art, music, storytelling, meditation and sound. Our destination is not so much a place as a way of being; of following the threads that run between ourselves, our senses, our thoughts and feelings, and the natural world around us.
THROUGH THE JOURNEY YOU WILL GET TO EXPLORE:
MUSIC
Including a new long-form composition “Tayos Caves Ecuador” by Jon Hopkins - also musical performances recorded inside the Cave itself
WRITING & POETRY
Explore the sensory journey to the Cave, re-frame perspectives and re-set the senses
MEDITATIONS
Guided Dreamseeds meditations to take you deep into the landscapes of our expedition and your inner worlds
FIELD RECORDINGS
Unique sound recordings from the River, Rainforest and the Cave for immersion, meditation and imagination
ART & PHOTOGRAPHY
Stories and reflections on our expedition journey told through photography and art
CREATIVE WORKSHOPS

PATHFINDERS LIBRARY
A collection of conversations between Liminal Compass creators Eileen Hall and Tamsin Cunningham and inspiring voices in the fields of philosophy, meditation, neuroscience, wellbeing, psychedelic research, geology, ancient history, music, art, environmentalism and activism.
This is the story of a liminal place; one that changed us forever and which might just change you too
In moments of great change and transition humans have always sought sanctuary and guidance from caves. Now, at a time when we sense that the future may need to look very different to the present, when there are so many thresholds to cross, this liminal place offers us space to re-imagine.

CREATORS & CO-DIRECTORS
Eileen Hall Munoz
Eileen Hall is Co-Director and Artist for Tayos. Since the death of her father Stan Hall she has worked to continue his legacy of research, exploration and the campaign for conservation of the Tayos Cave. Working with community, indigenous groups and healing/shamanic practices, Eileen brings with her a wealth of knowledge on sensory experience, the exploration of our inner worlds, psychology, consciousness and wellbeing. The art, poetry and mediations she has created for the Liminal Compass journey offer a welcome into the luminosity of the dream world, exploring what it means to connect to nature and the land we inhabit and the role that our environments can play in healing our psyches and society at large.
Tamsin Cunningham
Tamsin Cunningham is Co-Director, Writer & Artist for Tayos. She lives on the west coast of Scotland amongst the natural landscapes that inspire and inform her work. Exploring the subtle factors that constitute the character and spirit of a place, and with a deep respect for the elements that shape them, Tamsin’s work focuses on fostering community, belonging and connection. Drawn to exploration from an early age, her fascination with the relationship between the natural world and sensory experience has shaped her belief that heightened awareness holds the key to understanding the patterns, processes and beliefs that shape our lives. It is this trust in the ability of our environments to teach, clarify, heal and inspire that she brings to the essays, poetry and artwork she has created for the Liminal Compass.
