SANCTUARY
Down we have traveled into the places where the outside world can’t reach.
The cave is a space that has not heard the noise of cities. It does not know social media, email, mobile phones or online communication of any kind. It is a space where deadlines do not apply, where day is night and night is day. Time is expansive in the cave.
In the cave we abide in a sanctuary. We float outside the rapids of life’s pleas for our fragmented attention, in a deep pool of stillness, darkness, solitude and quiet.
There are many sanctuaries to be found in nature. But it is to caves that humans have always come to find a sanctuary for re-envisioning. This is a place in which the underworld of our psyche comes forth, in which time slows and our thoughts with it, in which we dream new stories into existence.
